TABLE CORAL
These interesting habitats are made from creatures like anemones. These creatures build up these huge structures by collecting small minerals and over millions of years they expand. The structure they make is made from calcium carbonate.

These polyps can withdraw into the coral and they all share the same nerve nets and tissue.

POLYPS - ANIMALS/INVERTEBRATE
As Mentioned above, these vast structures are made by small animals, polyps. They have tentacles to grab food and to grab small dust particles floating around to expand their habitat.

They are able to retract into the structure for protection and then pop up to feed. As mentioned on the anemone page, zooxanthellae live in this organism and take the carbon dioxide produced from it and photosynthesis, to see more about zooxanthellae click below:

Gray Angelfish
These large fish have a protracted jaw to help suck mucus from their food. They also have a unique camouflage that helps it blend into the coral.

The Gray Angelfish features a set of overlapping teeth to help shred sea sponge and other food items.
